We have people stationed in all regions of the state prepared to respond to emergency and disaster situations (floods, fires, etc.). Several components accomplish this goal, including the provision of special nutritional food items, written information on specific health conditions and general wellness information.
Direct Services:

Awareness:
- For those with chronic health conditions, we provide specific foods and written information specific to the condition.
- A monthly wellness flyer for each household.
- Encouragement and moral support for those desiring healthy choices.
Advocacy:

The Wee Care Family Center is a licensed child care center and pre-school where children ages 2 - 12 can learn and play in the summer, after school or Head Start, or while the parents/guardians work or attend school. Children ages 3-4 enjoy the Creative Curriculum for daily pre-school education that is also utilized by Head Start and the McDowell County schools. The Adult Learning Center offers: GED & computer classes, Basic literacy instruction, money management classes, job skills training, parenting instruction, a site for college distance learning. |
