Catholic Charities West Virginia:

Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) held the Race for Hope to raise funds and awareness. The funds that were raised will go to support the general operating budget of the second largest social service organization in West Virginia. CCWVa programs are present in 43 of the 55 West Virginian counties. CCWVa was founded in 1931 and continues to serve thousands through programs that reach out to the unborn, children, parents, refugees, immigrants, elderly, disabled, victims of disaster and victims of poverty and injustice. In the year 2007, CCWVa served close to 75,000 individual West Virginians through a variety of services including, emergency assistance, nutrition programs, health programs, disaster relief, food distribution, pregnancy and parenting services, child and adolescent programs, immigration and refugee services, adult literacy programs and senior outreach services.

This event will also help with CCWVa’s overall goal to raise awareness about what the organization does across the state, the programs that are available to those in need and the needs that exist in each region of West Virginia. The central offices of CCWVa are located in Wheeling, West Virginia on the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston campus. There are seven regional offices throughout the state and each of these offers services to the poor at a local level.
